CAREER EXPERIENCE
I started in the insurance industry in 1987 as a Producer working for two local brokerages before accepting a position with Lackner McLennan in 1991. In 2004, I was pleased to become a partner and shareholder.
As a published insurance broker and risk manager, having written numerous articles for trade and industry publications, my focus is specializing in insurance programs for commercial lines. I believe that managing relationships and establishing communication with clients that goes beyond a working rapport is of the utmost importance. This has developed into a very enjoyable and rewarding part of my work - meeting with and discussing insurance and general life aspects with both current clients and potential new clients and I highly appreciate these opportunities.
In my spare time, I am an avid car collector hobbyist and regularly attend events. During the winter months I participate competitively in various bowling and billiard events which might be a throwback to a misguided youth.

CAREER EXPERIENCE
I started my Insurance Career with a Brokerage in Waterloo, which allowed me to become familiar with all operations of a General Insurance office from insurance sales and marketing to accounting and payroll. Three years later I joined a larger broker in Kitchener as a Personal Lines production Broker. I advanced through to the position of Personal Lines supervisor and onto Commercial Lines Marketing. I joined Lackner McLennan as Marketing Manager in 1984, this evolved into a more active production role which allowed me to work closer with our clients to analyze and risk manage their exposure and insurance needs.
In 1989 I became a partner in the firm of Lackner McLennan and today I am a senior partner and continue my role as a Commercial Producer.

I have worked in the insurance industry since 2005. I started off my career at York Fire & Casualty. In my two years with that company, I worked my way up to the position of intermediate underwriter. From there I went to a small mutual insurance company, Halwell Mutual, where I continued to work as an underwriter for the next three years.
I then took a year off from insurance and moved to London after accepting an IT position with MCCG (Mutual Concept Computer Group). My role there was to test the data entry system they developed for Mutual Insurance Companies.
In 2010, I made the decision to become a broker and joined Lackner McLennan Insurance. From the time I started at LMI, I have become skilled in understanding the day to day operations of a groundwater contractor. I ensure that our client's have exceptional coverage through our renowned groundwater insurance program. I left the company in December 1983 to raise a family. I returned to Lackner McLennan in February of 2000 specifically to work with the Group Program for Massage Therapists. The program has now increased in volume 250% and my position has proved to be both challenging and rewarding. My focus as an Account Manager is on Customer Service while my position as Assistant Operations Manager offers me the opportunity to provide training and participate in policy and procedural development Having been granted the Power of Attorney from our Surety markets, I work closely with the Partners and Producers to develop and service Contract Surety Facilities and Accounts. This ultimately results in timely and comprehensive service for our clients in this specialized business requirement.

In my spare time, when not volunteering, I enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible engaging in such activities as cycling, camping, hiking or cross-country skiing.

CAREER EXPERIENCE
Over the past 24 years in the Insurance Industry, I have had the opportunity to experience different roles and responsibilities resulting in my highest respect for all positions in this industry. The self-satisfaction I felt in providing personal lines clients with guidance in making the best insurance decisions was very rewarding and after 10 years in this division with a small amount of commercial interaction, my path took me to the commercial side of insurance exclusively. The challenges that come in this area of insurance are continual and provide an amazing learning experience daily. With the technical knowledge along with people skills, I stepped into the role of a Commercial Service Manager for 6 years taking me to my current position as Operations Manager. Here I work with the Managing Partner, Financial Manager and Assistant Operations Manager in the management decisions of the brokerage. The major responsibility of my role is the participation in hiring, terminating, reviewing, disciplining and resolving conflicts with personnel; develop and maintain procedures and workflows; develop and direct training activities to ensure compliance with RIBO requirements; manage staff vacation, sick leave and appointment scheduling; provide assistance to Account Representatives, Account Executives and Marketing as required while creating an environment for team co-operation and enjoyment.

I have over 20 years experience in marketing and public relations in various industries including publishing, legal and entertainment. After an 8 year stint in Europe, including 7 years with the United Nations in Geneva, I returned to Canada.
I have been with Lackner McLennan since mid-2011. My role here includes the preparation of marketing materials, organization of seminars and general promotional activities. I very much enjoy the dynamic and respectful atmosphere of this office.

My experience in the workforce has been primarily in the Customer Service and Sales arena. From working for my parent’s family businesses for years, to working at beauty salons, a car dealership, and at a bridal shop, the opportunity to provide exceptional customer service has been great. I joined Lackner McLennan in 2011 where I am enjoying the opportunity to develop a career in the Insurance Industry.
Working within commercial lines, I liaise directly with clients, producers and account managers for the issuing of certificates and policy renewals.
